Matt Patsky Discusses LGBT Equality and Inclusion at Pride & Prejudice Summit

March 30, 2017// Boston, MA – On March 23rd, Trillium Asset Management CEO Matt Patsky participated as a speaker on the “Breaking Down Religious and Political Barriers” panel at the second annual Pride and Prejudice Summit hosted by The Economist in New York City. The 24-hour global event, held in Hong Kong, London, and New York, gathered more than 600 global industry leaders, policymakers, and activists to discuss the impact of LGBT diversity and inclusion in business and the workplace.
Panelists were asked to address the challenges of engaging with stakeholders across various industries to facilitate constructive dialogue around LGBT equality and rights.  Matt discussed Trillium’s thirty-five year history of using shareholder advocacy to encourage companies to improve equal employment opportunity policy, implement programs that attract and retain diversity in the workplace, and institute company-wide non-discrimination policies. “There’s a positive correlation between inclusiveness and growth in business and the economies,” said Matt. “We have to put pressure on the business community and government to make it clear that LGBT discrimination is simply bad for business.”
Fellow panelists included Rachel Hoff, Advisor at the American Unity Fund and Imam Daiyee Abdullah, Founder and Executive Director of the MECCA Institute. The panel was moderated by Charlotte Howard, Business Correspondent at The Economist.
