Trillium Asset Management Social Analysts to Participate in Global Reporting Initiative Project(Archive)
Trillium Asset Management’s social research analysts Shelley Alpern and Anne Parry will be participating in the Global Reporting Initiative’s HIV/AIDS corporate public reporting project in February at the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Interim Secretariat in Boston. The multistakeholder effort seeks to evaluate standardized approaches for corporations to publicly report HIV/AIDS policies, practices, and programs.
The results will inform the development of both the GRI’s 2002 Sustainability Reporting Guidelines and its accompanying Mining Sector Supplement, thus advancing the GRI’s overall mission of elevating corporate sustainability reporting worldwide. The extractive and itinerant-worker industries of mining, forestry, agriculture and ground transportation services will be the initial focus for the project, with expansion to other sectors and regions as a second phase.
In addition to industry experts, representatives of human and labor rights advocacy groups, government, and research institutions will participate. The project was made possible by a two-year grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
